Catherine H. Compton

April 12, 2016 Mrs. Catherine Holcombe Compton, age 84, of 525 Bishop Rd., widow of Albert Compton, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at her home. Mrs. Compton was born in Union, May 31, 1931, a daughter of the late Sidney and Alma Henderson Holcombe. She attended Union High School and was a retired textile worker. Mrs. Compton was a member of Lower Fairforest Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher. She was first married to the late Charles Greer. Surviving are a daughter, Martha Rogers of Union; two sons, Larry Charles Greer of Greer and Michael Greer of Union; a sister, Shirley Palmer of Buffalo; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Lower Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Jim Cunningham and Rev. Joe Smith. Active pallbearers will be Brad Greer, Justin Greer, Alan Rogers, Leonard Smith, Sid Palmer and James Inabinette. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM in the church prior to the services. Memorials may be made to Lower Fairforest Baptist Church, 125 Lower Fairforest Church Rd., Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home, 525 Bishop Rd., Union.
