Charles Clay

Mr. Charles Clay, age 93, of 214 Duckett St., Whitmire, widower of Doris Lewis Clay, passed away, Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Langston Place of Clinton.

Mr. Clay was born September 28, 1927 in Martin County, KY, a son of the late Della Clay.  He retired after 40 years from Ford Motor Company.  Mr. Clay was a Veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II.  He attended Friendship Baptist Church of Whitmire.

Surviving is a son, William Edward Clay of Auburn, AL; a half-brother, Cline of Colorado; four grandchildren, Sterling Alexander Clay, Kiersty Elizabeth Clay, Chance Makena Muller Clay, and Kacie Lee Clay; a step-son reared in the home, Jerry Whitlock of Whitmire; a nephew, Garland Lee Chapman of Litchfield, MI, and Cathy Clay Watson is a niece who was raised by Charlie and Doris from a baby and he loved her and looked at her like his daughter.  He was predeceased by a step-son, Gordon Whitlock and a sister, Mary Nell Clay Chapman.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 23, 2020 at Whitmire Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Mark A. Stevenson.
