Charles Mcmurray

November 8, 2015 Mr. Charles McMurray age 81, husband of Carolyn O'Shields McMurray of 2242 Hwy 72, Whitmire, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2015 at his home. Mr. McMurray was born in Whitmire, SC March 23, 1934, a son of the late William L. McMurray and Nellie Mae Yarborough McMurray. He was a graduate of Whitmire High School and had attended Presbyterian College. Mr. McMurrary retired from the US Air Force following twenty-three years of service. Following his retirement, Mr. McMurray retired from Carter's Toyota of Newberry and also NAPA Auto Parts in Whitmire. He was a member of Whitmire First Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Reggie McMurray of Whitmire; a brother, Lou McMurray of Swainsboro, GA; four grandchildren: John McCarley and wife Leigh Ann of Kinards, Lesley McMurray Gregory and husband Jonathan of Union, Charlie McCarley and Nicole McMurray both of Whitmire and four great-grandchildren. Mr. McMurray was predeceased by a daughter, Jodi Lynn McMurray and a son, Charles Randal McMurray. Memorial services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Whitmire First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Shannon Long and Rev. Charles O'Shields. Visitation will be held in the church immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to Whitmire First Baptist Church, Whitmire, SC or to Blue Ridge Hospice, 103B Boyce Street, Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home, 2242 Hwy 72, Whitmire, SC 29178.
