Charles F. Walker

Mr. Charles F. Walker, age 79, husband of Betty Stewart Walker of 104 Birchwood Dr., Union, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends. Mr. Walker was born in Tryon, NC on March 26, 1938 a son of the late James Otis Walker and Edna Mae Metcalf Walker. He was a 1957 graduate of Tryon High School and attended Spartanburg Technical College. Mr. Walker owned and operated Charles Walker Auto Sales for 30 years and had previously owned and operated Walker's Tax and Accounting. He was an active member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, a member of the choir for a number of years and had previously served on several committees. Surviving in addition to his wife of 58 years are two sons, Brian "Charlie" Walker and wife Marisa and Scott Walker and wife Tammy all of Union; two sisters, Patricia Tucker and Linda Shehan both of Landrum; three grandchildren, Michael Walker of Union, Carli Walker of Atlanta, and Heath Walker and fiancée Brittneigh Stribble of Union; and one great-grandson, Keegan Walker. He was predeceased by four brothers, J.O. Walker, Jr., Frank Walker, Richard Walker, and Birton Walker and one sister, Ruby Ravan. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Mon Aetna Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Chris Gulledge, Rev. Benny Green, and Rev. Greg Barefoot. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Heath Walker, Michael Walker, Jason Yarbrough, Scott Sherbert, William Earl Sprouse, and Patrick Russell. The following are asked to form the honorary escort, Bill Goodwin, Ken Fowler, Carol Bailey, Ed Pack, Dennis Russell, Joey Northern, and Joey Chandler. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM prior to the services at the Church. Memorials may be made to Mon Aetna Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1431 Lockhart Highway, Union, SC 29379.
