Charlie Blalock "Cb" Jolly

Mr. Charlie Blalock "CB" Jolly, age 91, husband of Doris Waldrop Jolly, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at his home.

Mr. Jolly was born February 2, 1934, in Union, the son of the late Milton Humphries and Mattie Irene Jolly. He was the youngest of 14 children and the last surviving member of the immediate family. Mr. Jolly was a 1953 graduate of Union High School where he played football and was on the baseball team for three years during which he was the catcher for the 1952 state champion baseball team. He was elected a member of the Union High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Mr. Jolly's love of sports continued throughout his life, especially watching the Atlanta Braves baseball and sharing his stories of the joy of playing the game. He was also a member of the Woodmen of the World for over seventy years. Mr. Jolly worked in textiles for his entire career, including Excelsior Mill in Union and manufacturing plants in North Carolina. He was a member of Hebron Baptist Church, where he served in the past as a Deacon and R.A. Leader while also serving on various other committees for the church throughout the years.

In addition to his wife of 69 years, Doris, Mr. Jolly leaves behind his son, Randy and his wife Susan of Spartanburg, his daughter, Dianna Jolly of Charlotte, NC, his granddaughter, Mary Kathryn Ward and her husband Justin of Spartanburg and great-grandsons, George McAlister Ward and Henry Blalock Ward. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Faye W. Eaves, brother-in-law, Roger Waldrop and his wife Emma, along with many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Tommy Vaughn and the Rev. Alex Calhoun. The family will receive friends following the service in the Hebron Baptist Church Social Hall.
