Cheryl Lynn (Holcombe) Moss

January 3, 1950 — February 6, 2025

Mrs. Cheryl Lynn Holcombe Moss, age 75, wife of Mike Moss, of 134 Airport Rd., Union, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Moss was born January 3, 1950 in Union, a daughter of the late C. Linbergh Holcombe and Wanda Putnam Holcombe.  She was a 1968 graduate of Union High School where she was a member of the UHS Women's Basketball team, making All-Conference 3 years in a row and held the Highest Scoring Record for 25 years.  Mrs. Moss was a member of New Life Baptist Church, where she helped lead the Children's Ministry and was VBS Director.  She had previously been a member of Sardis United Methodist Church where she was VBS Director and Director of God's Kid's Children's Choir.  Mrs. Moss kept children in her home for over 40 years and had previously worked at Conso.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and Aunt Cheryl to all who knew her.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 56 years are three sons, Jonathan Moss of the home, Shaun Moss and wife Nalann of Inman, and Mitchell Moss and wife Destiney of Pauline; a daughter, Ashley Owings and husband Kyle of Pauline; two sisters, Jo Ellen Addis of Union and Anita Ward and husband Speedy of Union;  five grandchildren, Lahna Moss, Olivia Moss, Layla Moss, Hampton Owings, and Anniston Owings; one brother-in-law, Dennis Moss and wife Jan, a sister-in-law, Pam Lipsey and husband Steve; and a number of nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Raymond Addis and her mother and father-in-law, Jim and Jeanette Moss.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, February 10, 2025 at New Life Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Shannon Faulkner, Rev. Ron Culbertson, and Rev. Jerry Pickens.  Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Active Pallbearers will be Terry Humphries, Greg Pickens, Larry Yarbrough, Kevin Farmer, Bryan Robinson, Jack Roper, and Coach Joe Pitt.  The following are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort, the 1965-1968 Union High School Girls Basketball team members and coaches, all former God's Kids Workers of Sardis Methodist Church, Margie Humphries, Christine Parrish, Pearl Crocker, Judy Bailey, Kay Vinson, Johnny and Carolyn Yarborough, Billy and Hazel McKinney, Cynthia Yarborough, Mary Ellen and Sammy Smith, Dottye Bishop, Roy and Pam Puckett, Jamie and Dianne Smith, Dennis and Jan Moss, Pam and Steve Lipsey, Larry and Teresa Kelly, Dr. Ajai and Tammy Srinivasan, Tammy Brewington, Myrtle Pruitt, Ruth Crayne, and Jane Arthur.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at New Life Baptist Church.
