Clara Nelle Hance

Mrs. Clara Nelle Gulley Hance, 95, widow of Eugene E Hance, formerly of Union, passed away Saturday, August 20,2022, at JF Hawkins in Newberry.

Mrs. Hance was born in Calhoun Falls, January 29,1927, to the late Marvin Warren and Bertha Moss Gulley. She grew up in Duncan and graduated from Duncan High school and Cecil's Business college. Mrs. Hance was a homemaker and a bank employee of Wells Fargo and Arthur State, as well as a volunteer at Wallace Thomson hospital into her 80's. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Union since the early 1950's and served on numerous service committees.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Eugene Jr. (Buddy) and James Hance, a grandson, AJ Cassell, and brother and sister, Joel Gulley and Betty Gulley Digby.

She is survived by a son, Neill Hance of Simpsonville and children, Teagan, Ian, and Nolan Hance; a daughter, Claire Hance Cassell (Sam) of Columbia and children, Jessica, Pace, Davis, and Tanner Cassell.

A family graveside service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Duncan First Baptist Church Cemetery in Duncan, SC conducted by Rev. Robbie Stollger.
