Cornelia (Stone) Hart

Mrs. Cornelia Stone Hart, age 93, of 476 Colonial Drive, Whitmire, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home in Newberry.

Born April 11, 1929 in Inman, SC to the late Dupree William and Mae Loftis Stone.  She married the late Judge Luke Boyd Hart on June 15, 1949 in Whitmire, SC – a marriage lasting 61 years.  Mrs. Hart was a graduate of Whitmire High School and attended Newberry College.  She was the former owner of Hart's Jewelry and Gifts in Williston, SC and retired from the Torrington and Co. in Union.  Mrs. Hart was an active member of Whitmire United Methodist Church where she held various leadership positions.  Her favorite past time was traveling to see her grandchildren play sports.

She is survived by her three children, Anita Hart Maness of Union, William Luke Hart (Brownie) of Blythewood, and Neely Hart Bowden (David) of Chapin; five grandchildren, Michael Hart Maness (Tinsley), Adam Dupree Hart (Joanna), Luke Smith Hart (Jenna), Richard McKay Kelly, II (Tracy) and Ann Maness Maloney (Kyle); six great-grandchildren, Garrison McKay Kelly, Elouise Mae Maness, Sophie Ann Hart, Michael Hart Maness, Jr., Reeves Dupree Hart, Addison Cook Hart, and Riley Nicole Thomas; a brother-in-law, Russell Etheridge Hart (Marge); and many nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her only sister, Muriel Stone Suber and a son-in-law, David Maness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Whitmire United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Lee Phillips and Mr. Jesse Baker.  Burial will follow visitation at Whitmire Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be James Cochran Suber, Jr., Benjamin Stone Hughes, Donald Eugene Hart, David Lee Ledford, and Evan Mark Ledford.

Visitation will be held immediately following the church service at Whitmire United Methodist Church.
