October 17, 2015 Cornelia Farmer Huggins, 1924-2015 Cornelia (Neely) Farmer Huggins of Union, SC entered into rest Friday, October 16, 2015 at NHC Healthcare in Laurens, SC. Born March 7, 1924 in Greenville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Ansel Farmer and Minnie Lockhart Farmer. She was the loving wife of Bruce Huggins for 63 years before his death in 2004. After a long career in the beauty industry, she retired as owner and operator of Ginger's Beauty Salon. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she was a choir member for many years. She spent untold hours preparing food in the church kitchen for Lenten lunches and church celebrations. She was an expert needle worker and some of her embroidery pieces are displayed at Grace UMC. She knitted and crocheted and was known for her baking skills. Neely and Bruce spent much of their time caring for family members young and not so young. She will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her sister Virginia Walker of Union and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, by whom she was dearly loved. She is predeceased by her sister Beatrice Farmer Champion and by her brothers Ralph Farmer, Alvin Farmer, and Ansel Farmer, Jr. A celebration of life will be held at graveside 3 pm, Monday, October 19 at Union Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace UMC, 201 S. Church Street, Union, SC 29379.
