Cornelia Gaye (Smart) Copeland

Mrs. Cornelia Gaye Smart Copeland, age 77, wife of Michael Scott Copeland, of 151 Bailey Rd., Buffalo, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024 at her home.

Mrs. Copeland was born February 16, 1947 in York, a daughter of the late William Roy Smart and Ocie Ovella Huskins Smart.  She was a graduate of Pearson School of Cosmetology and retired as a cosmetologist.  Mrs. Copeland was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church but attended Buffalo Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, Wanda Copeland Smith and husband Chris, Sarah Copeland and Sally Copeland Dotson and husband Wade all of Buffalo; three grandchildren, Hannah Madison Copeland, Matilda Reese Vassey, and Greyson Copeland Smith; and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 Sunday, June 30, 2024 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Jeff Farmer.  Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Chris Smith, Wade Dotson, Cade Sweezy, Kyle Revels, Will Atkinson, and Dean Howell.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Union County Animal Shelter in memory of her dog, Gizzy, 210 W. Main Street, Union, SC 29379.
