Danny Whitmire, Sr.

Mr. Danny O'dell Whitmire, Sr., age 57, husband of Marie Hernandez Whitmire of 1749 Chesnee Hwy., Gaffney, passed away Friday, May 29, 2015 at his home. Mr. Whitmire was born in Union, April 1, 1957, a son of the late General James Whitmire and Hattie Lou Patterson Whitmire. He was reared in Pacolet and was a former textile worker. Mr. Whitmire was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Brittany Whitmire of the home, Lakeshia Wicks and Jessica Hughes both of Gaffney; two sons, Danny O'dell Whitmire, Jr. of Chesnee and Todd Pennington of Gaffney; two brothers, James Lee Whitmire of Mint Hill, NC and Billy Welch Whitmire of Centerville, GA; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Whitmire was predecease by a sister, Marlene Whitmire Pennington. A celebration of life visitation will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel. The family will be at the home, 1749 Chesnee Hwy., Gaffney, SC.
