David "Bud" Knight

David Phillettus "Bud" Knight, age 86, of 3205 Whitmire Hwy., Union, joined his wife, Helen Smith Knight in their heavenly home, Wednesday, February 22, 2023.  He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his three surviving children.

Bud was born in Union County, December 5, 1936, a son of the late Walter (Skin Whistle) and Viola Barnes Knight.  He was a graduate of Union High School.  Bud was an accomplished welder who loved his trade.  He spent many weekends in his backyard teaching others the skills to pass their first welding test.  He hung up his torch at the age of 70 upon retirement first from Distribution Construction Company and the Dawn Development Company.

Bud is survived by his brother Stanley (Dock) Knight and his wife Emily of Hillsborough, NC.

He is also survived by his son, Rod Knight of Prosperity; his daughters, Rhonda Harmon (Perry) and Tutti Knight of Union; daughter-in-law, Sherrie Harmon Knight of Jonesville; grandchildren, Joshua Gregory (Sharon), Dale Knight, Dusty Harmon (Nicole), Daniel Harmon (Sarena), Tate Knox (Mallerie), Sarah Osment, Jase Knight (Briana), Dayton Knight, Kadianne Knight, Melissa Osment, and Ashley Harmon; and thirteen great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his sister, Bernice Heatherly (Herbert), his daughter Debbie Knight Gregory, and Jackie Knight, his sons, David Dale Knight, and Dean Knight.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Rosemont Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Ted Tinker.

Papa Knight's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held immediately following the services at the Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Dr., Spartanburg, SC 29303.

The family is at their respective homes.
