Mr. David "D.A." McCloud, age 94, of 204 S. 3rd Street, Lockhart, widower of Gladys Vanderford McCloud passed away Monday, February 13, 2017 at Union Medical Center. Mr. McCloud was born on November 8, 1922 in Tarboro, NC a son of the late Jim and Leslie Sweatt McCloud. He was retired from Milliken & Co.-Lockhart Plant where he was the Maintenance Supervisor. Mr. McCloud was a Veteran of the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, JoAnne Walker and Norma Burgess and husband Paul all of Lockhart; one son, Rickey McCloud and wife Shirley of Union; one brother, Raymond McCloud of Chester; four grandchildren, Rickey McCloud, Jr. and wife Mara, Trey Burgess and fiancée Amber Robinson, Brooke Burgess and fiancée Chris Wilkie, and Brandy Smallwood and husband Jeryle; five great-grandchildren, Lauren McCloud, Kole Burgess, Karsyn Burgess, Braelyn Wilkie, and Clint Smallwood; a special friend, Azilee Ashe; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son-in-law, Kenneth Walker, five sisters, and two brothers. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Sam Baines and Rev. Brad Goodale. Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ted Garner, Danny Vanderford, Roger Vanderford, Logan Vanderford, Wayne McCloud, and Jimbo McCloud. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the services at the Church and after the services at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church 126 Askew Circle, Union, SC 29379 or to Philippi Baptist Church, 327 Philippi Church Rd., Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home of his daughter, Norma and Paul Burgess, 165 Woodside Dr., Union, SC 29379 (Lockhart Community).
