David Gordon Russell, Jr. died peacefully on Sunday, May 5th surrounded by loving family and friends.

He is predeceased by his father David Gordon Russell, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Doris Russell, sister Laura Russell Hunter (married to Jack Potter), wife Heather Haley, and stepsons Maxwell and Oliver Ackermann.

David was born in Union, SC. He attended Grace United Methodist Church and Union High School.

David graduated from Clemson University and received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.  Subsequently, he became licensed Professional Engineer (PE).

David enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in the Textile Machinery and Manufacturing Industry, and his presence in the industry was marked by respect and admiration. He excelled in Engineering, Product Development, Project Management, Sales, and International Business.

After graduating from Clemson, David joined Marshall & Williams in Greenville, SC and developed his expertise in the design and manufacture of the Tenter Frame. He travelled extensively around the world, ultimately landing in Shanghai, China to serve as the Managing Director of Marshall & Williams' China operation for three years.

When Marshall & Williams was acquired by Navis Tubetex, David took a break to act as the Director of Engineering at Kusters Zima in Spartanburg, SC and then as the Director of Business Development at KTM Solutions in Greer, SC.

David excitedly rejoined the team at Marshall & Williams / Navis Tubetex in 2014 and became the Business Unit Director for the Stenter Frame and Technical Applications units until the time of his passing.

Beyond his professional achievements, David was cherished for his many passions outside the office. As an avid learner, he learned Mandarin, taught himself coding and perspective drawing, and dabbled in digital art. He was a loyal Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed triathlon sports, cycling, fine art, technology, the NYT crossword puzzle, walking his dog Wrigley, and cooking for his family.

David will be laid to rest next to his father in Union, SC. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in Greenville.
