David "Slim" Smith

Mr. David Wayne "Slim" Smith, age 60, of 598 Lakeview Heights, Union, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mr. Smith was born in Union, November 27, 1963, a son of Sybil Mae Jones Smith of Union and the late Gilbert E. Smith, Sr. He was a graduate of Union High School and had retired from CPE Industries in Union. Mr. Smith had also worked a number of years with William Moss Construction and was an auto mechanic. He was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Hollie Smith of Union; two sons, Matthew Smith and wife Alexis of Spartanburg and David Paige of Union; his longtime girlfriend, Debbie Eades of the home; a sister, Lisa Reebenaker and husband Robert of Union and a brother, Gilbert Smith, Jr. and wife Arrie. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Shaniah Stevens, Amariya Stevens, Kaylee Smith, Harrison Smith and Pheobe Fowler.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Scott Cobb. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Thursday at the church prior to the services.

Active pallbearers will be William Moss, Caleb Deal, Frank Lancaster, Larry Rouse, David Jones, and Willie Byars.
