Dennis Harold “Stretch” Black

December 21, 2017 Mr. Dennis Harold "Stretch" Black, age 71 husband of Sadie Pryor Black of 790 Gaffney Hwy., Jonesville, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at his home. Mr. Black was born June 19, 1946 in Union, SC a son of the late Agnes Belue Black. He was a 1964 graduate of Jonesville High School and retired after 30 years from Cone Mill-Carlisle Finishing Plant. Mr. Black w as a member of Gilead Baptist Church where he was a former choir member. He was a member of the Prudence Lodge No. 139 and was a Hajaz Shriner. Mr. Black was former member of the South Carolina National Guard-Jonesville Unit. Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Angela Black of Jonesville; two grandchildren, Julius Fountain and Savanna Carpenter both of Jonesville; and a number of cousins. He was predeceased by one son, Jason Allen Black. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Gilead Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Eddie Saxon. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be James "Bubba" Harvey, Wayne Sanders, Dwight Belue, Evans Crocker, Gary Proctor, and Steve Pryor. Visitation will be held from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM Saturday prior to the services at the church.
