Devon Lee Smith

Devon Lee Smith, age 27, 103 Banny St., Union, passed away, June 10, 2026.

Devon was born in Spartanburg on August 24, 1998, a son of Bridgit Smith Jennings and the late Chris Jennings. He was employed with Enlightened Home Care. Devon left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him through his dedication, determination, and deep love for his family. He was a respectful, kind-hearted young man who always showed compassion and care for those around him. Devon was especially protective of his loved ones and cherished every moment spent with them.

Devon grew up alongside his two younger sisters, Jaela and Nyla, whom he spent his life loving, guiding, and protecting. The bond they shared was one of unwavering love and loyalty. Devon cared deeply for his mother, sisters, grandmother, and aunt, always putting his family first and making sure they knew how much they meant to him.

He enjoyed watching sports with his grandmother, spending hours discussing their favorite teams, and was a devoted Clemson fan. Devon also loved fishing, researching different sports teams, and playing his PlayStation. He shared a special bond with his beloved aunt, who affectionately called him “Bubba,” and he devoted much of his time to caring for her.

Devon was loved by many friends and family members and will be remembered for his compassion, loyalty, and the genuine love he showed others. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his sisters, Jaela Smith and Nyla Smith of the home; his maternal grandmother, Cindy Haney; his paternal grandmother, Maxine Jennings; and a god-brother, Gerald Hughes. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Erica Haney, Matthew Haney, Carl Jennings, Stephanie Jennings, and Lamar Jennings; and by a special aunt, Casey Smith, whom he dearly loved to aggravate and who affectionately called him 'Bubba.’ He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Ricky Haney; his paternal grandfather, Carl Jennings; and an aunt, Christina Jennings.

A celebration of life will be held at 6:00 PM Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be immediately following the services.
