Dixie Irene Fisher

July 29, 1934 — November 6, 2019

Ms. Dixie Irene Fisher, age 85 of 683 Rice Ave. Ext., Union, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Heartland of Union. Ms. Fisher was born July 29, 1934 in Spartanburg, a daughter of the late Boyce Dean Fisher and Flora Hester Dixon Fisher. She was a 1952 graduate of Landrum High School where she was the Valedictorian and played on the basketball team. Ms. Fisher retired from Wal-Mart. She was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church where she was a longtime Sunday School Teacher. Surviving are three sons, Michael Lloyd Kirby and wife April of Union, Richard Fisher Kirby and wife Tammy of Spartanburg, and Boyce Claude Kirby of Buffalo; a sister, Jacqueline "Jackie" Polson of Easley; eleven grandchildren and many, many great and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Felix Gregory Kirby; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Ann Swanson Kirby; two brothers, Douglas Dean Fisher and Fred Julian Fisher. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Buffalo United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Miriam Mick. Memorials may be made to Buffalo United Methodist Church, C/O Air Conditioning Fund, P.O. Box 176, Buffalo, SC 29321, or to a Cancer or Alzheimer's Association of one's choice. The family is at the home of her granddaughter, Amanda Kirby Weaver, 146 Stevens Rd., Buffalo, SC 29321.
