Don W. Cody

December 20, 2019 Mr. Don Wayne Cody, age 60, husband of Donna Smith Cody of 112 Hillcrest Dr., Union, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2019. Mr. Cody was born in Union, April 22, 1959, a son of the late Frank Douglas Cody and Jacquelyn Wilburn Cody. He was a graduate of Union High School and was employed with Littlejohn, Inc., as a warehouse manager. Mr. Cody was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he was a recreation leader of the AWANA Club and loved mentoring the young men of this group. He was also a member of the choir and the Wilbur Smith Sunday School Class. Don was a loving husband, father and soon to be grandfather. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Kayla C. Bishop and husband Alton of Union; a sister, Lisa Lee and husband Mike of Charlotte; a brother-in-law, Ricky Smith and wife Amy of Union; a nephew, Brett Smith and wife Shayla and a niece, Brooke Smith all of Union. He is also survived by his in-laws, William and Jo Carol Smith and a special cousin and caregiver, Elaine Woods. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Tommy Vaughn and Jason Spencer. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens where the family will receive friends after the committal. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Anthony, Lynn Eaves, Gerald Graham, Sam White, Jason Spencer, Mark Haney, Cyle Coker, and Scottie Barnett. The following are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers, Maurice Bevis, John Briggs, Jose Calderon, Dr. Jeff Craft, Wilbur Smith, Junior Vaughan, Graham Williams, and Randy Wilburn. Members of Wilbur Smith Sunday School Class are asked to sit in a group and the following members of AWANA Club, Bryce Barnett, Josh Brannon, Cade Coker, Nicholas Dow, Ben Fowler, Thomas Gregory, Tanner Hardin, Jack Knox, Joe Knox, Harrison Lawson, Michael Medford, Connor Redmond, Grayson Smith, Colton Weaver, Nathan Weaver, Bryson Weaver, and Brandon White.
