Don W. Powers

March 6, 2015 Mr. Don Walton Powers, age 81, husband of Mary Arthur Sims Powers, formerly of 420 Santuc Dr., Union, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Heartland of Union. Mr. Powers was in born Columbus, NC, August 3, 1933, a son of the late Pink and Emma Nobles Powers. He was a retired barber having worked at Brewington Barber Shop in Charlotte, NC. Mr. Powers was a member of Duncan Acres United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Merry Methodist Men's Club and the W.S. Whitener Sunday School class. Mr. Powers was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #261 in Charlotte. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sisters, Margie Ann Powers of Chadbourn, NC and Reba Powers Tesh and husband Vance of Charlotte, NC; a nephew, Ricky Smith and wife Wendy of Union and two nieces, Jennifer Smith Watters and Tiffany Smith Pridemore and husband Josh all of Union. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Duncan Acres United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Merritt Wentz. Burial with Masonic Rites will be at Union Memorial Gardens. Staff and nurses of Medi Home Hospice are asked to sit in a group. Visitation will be held from 1:45 until 2:45 PM Sunday at the church prior to the services. Memorials may be made to Duncan Acres United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 216, Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home of his nephew, Ricky and Wendy Smith, 420 Santuc Dr., Union.
