Mr. Donald Edward Bryson, age 72, husband of Frances Ford Bryson, of Toney Road, Union, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026, at his home.

Mr. Bryson was born on December 10, 1953, in Union, SC, a son of the late James Lefty Bryson and Jenny Robertson Bryson. He retired from Torrington/Timken as a machinist. Mr. Bryson was a member of New Life Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Union High School where he was a member of “Love Machine” football team that played for the SC Football Championship and was also a wrestler. Mr. Bryson also attended college at Pembroke College and Newberry College where he also wrestled and played football. He loved woodworking, gardening, watching TV but really loved the outdoors.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Frances are a son, Jonathon Bryson, a daughter, Beth Dees and her husband, Joe Dees, a grandson, John Henry Ford Jolly and his mother-in-law, Evelyn Ford, all of Union. He also leaves behind a brother, Randy Bryson and his wife, Elizabeth of Palm Harbor, FL, and nieces, Jennifer Roark (Gerald), Ashley Bryson, and Shelly Jackson. Mr. Bryson was predeceased by a sister, Kathy Ann Bryson, and a brother, Russell Bryson.

Funeral services are planned for 4:00 PM, Monday, June 8, 2026, at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Ron Culbertson. Internment will follow the services at Union Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel.

Active pallbearers will be Tommy Benefield, Robert Williams, Chris Cody, Jack Rector, Robert Ashmore and Arnold Childers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Life Baptist Church, 502 Meansville Rd., Union, SC 29379.

The family is at the home, 403 Toney Road, Union.
