Donald R. Cohen

Mr. Donald "Doe" Ray Cohen, age 65, husband of Harriet Ann Rector Cohen of 108 Catherine St., Union, SC, passed away Friday, July 17, 2015 at his home. Mr. Cohen was born in Union, December 12, 1949, a son of the late Charles Douglas Cohen and Mary Louise Ivey Cohen. He was a 1969 graduate of Union High School and a graduate of Columbia Junior College. In 2008 he was inducted in to the Union County Athletic Hall of Fame. Mr. Cohen, a loving husband, father and grandfather, was a member of Unity United Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: George Cannon Cohen of Buffalo; and Charles Clayton "Clay" Cohen and wife Megan of Union; a brother Michael Cohen and wife Becki of Buffalo; grandchildren: Lily, Charlie, Patrick and Rose Cohen; three aunts: Martha Ivey Shaw, Julia Ivey Greer and June Cohen all of Union; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Funeral Services will be held 5:00 PM Monday, July 20, 2015 at the S.R. Holcombe Chapel conducted by the Rev. Jim Ivey and Rev. Rob Williams. Burial will follow at Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Steve Fincher, Eddie Harris, Mike Anthony, Bobby Toney, Tony Owens and Tommy Simmons. The family will receive friends Monday at 4:00 until 5:00 prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Union County All-Stars State Championship, in care of Arthur State Bank, 100 East Main St., Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home, 108 Catherine St., Union, SC.
