Donald Edward Davis

December 31, 2015 Mr. Donald Edward "Don" Davis, age 71, husband of Barbara Faucett Davis of 702 Brown's Creek Church Rd., Union, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg. Mr. Davis was born in Union, SC December 15, 1944, a son of the late Edward Davis and Ruby Ivey Davis. He was a 1963 graduate of Union High School and retired from Winn Dixie Stores where he served as a manager for thirty-eight years. His last assignment was the Union Winn Dixie store. He was a member of Brown's Creek Baptist Church, Union Shrine Club, and a Scottish Rite Mason. He was first a member of the John A. Fant Lodge and later the Union Masonic Lodge. Mr. Davis was a former member of the Union Rotary Club, the Sertoma Club, the United Way Board and had been a member of the Advisory Board of Wachovia Bank, Union Branch. Mr. Davis was a member of the Union Elks Lodge # 1321 where he had served three terms as it's Exalted Ruler. He was past President of the State of South Carolina Elk's Association and had served as the Chairman of the Board of the South Carolina Elk's Association. For his work on both the State and local level with the Elk's Club, he was named to the South Carolina Elk's Association Hall of Fame. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sisters: Kay Sparks and her husband Bruce of Union and Judy Burnett and husband James of Spartanburg and many beloved nieces and nephews. Mr. Davis was predeceased by a sister, Wanda David Petty. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Brown's Creek Baptist Church conducted by Rev. John Lee. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites. Active pallbearers will be Eddie Harris, William Earl Roller, Danny Cavender, Jim Cunningham, Gene Childers, Jerry Davis, George Davis and Stanley Vinson. Members of the Union Shrine Club, Elk's Association and Union Masonic Lodge was asked to serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, January 1, 2016 at SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to Brown's Creek Baptist Church Van Fund, 118 Brown's Creek Church Rd., Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home, 702 Brown's Creek Church Rd., Union.
