Donald “Snort” Knox

Mr. Donald A. "Snort" Knox, age 78 of 2610 Lockhart Hwy, Union, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Mr. Knox was born in Union, SC March 31, 1937, a son of the late Cecil T. Knox and Mattie Clary Knox. He was retired from Knox Tire and Appliance and was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church. Mr. Knox was a loving brother, uncle and a friend to all who met him. Mr. Knox is survived by a brother, Tommy F. Knox; two sisters: Jenell Knox of the home and Sadie Inman of Union; a niece, Melinda Littlejohn and husband Jeff; two nephews: Tommy Knox, II and wife Jennie and Bruce Inman and wife Melissa all of Union and special great-nieces and great-nephews. Mr. Knox was predeceased by a sister, Pansy "Pat" Knox and a brother, Eldridge T. "Early Bird" Knox. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Mon Aetna Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Chris Gulledge and Rev. Bob Cato. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Knox, II, Tommy "Tate" Knox, III, Lee Littlejohn, Bruce W. Inman, Otis Davis, Howard Wells, William Jolly and Boyd McAbee. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alex Freeman, Wayne Willard, Carrol Alexander, Larry Morris, Roger Knox, Brent Knox, Lyndell Knox, Bobby Joe Gibbs and John Wayne Brandon. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Friday evening at SR Holcombe Funeral Home. The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to Blue Ridge Hospice, nurses and staff of Ellen Sagar Nursing Home and special caregivers, Laura "Noots" Moss and Mary Price.
