Donald Harris, Sr.

Mr. Donald Fred Harris, Sr., age 75, husband of Marie Ramey Harris of 239 Harris Lake Rd., Union passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Regional Hospice House in Spartanburg. Mr. Harris was born December 27, 1938, a son of Anna Gault Harris of Union and the late William Fredrick "Fred" Harris. He was of the methodist faith and a retired farmer and carpenter, having worked with Jack Earls Construction Company. Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two sons: Donald Fred "Freddie" Harris and wife Wendy of Buffalo and Brandon Harris of the home; a grandson reared in the home: Payton Harris; a daughter: Ann Sanders of Woodruff; a sister: Barbara H. Gregory and husband Gene of Union; two brothers: Henry Grady Harris and wife Donna of Spartanburg and James Stanley Harris and special friend Cindy Henderson of Union; two step-daughters: Yevette Yarborough and husband Scott and Tracy Wallace and husband Jeff all of Chester; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Harris was predeceased by a son: Alvin Harris. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Glenn Ribelin and Rev. Carl Harris. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Richie Harris, Randy Harris, Jackie Earls, Everett Leigh, Scott Yarborough and Jeff Wallace. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday, January 6, 2014 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorial may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 1622 Kelly Road, Union, SC 29379. The family is at the of his sister, Barbara and Gene Gregory, 707 East Main St., Union, SC 29379.
