Donald Eugene (Sr.) Estes

Mr. Donald Eugene Estes Sr., age 81 widower of Annie Ruth Duncan Estes., of 414 Prospect Corner Rd., Union, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023 at his home.

Mr. Estes was born May 20, 1941, a son of the late Clarence and Minnie Lou Ivey Estes.  He retired from Milliken & Co.—Excelsior Plant after 40 years.  Mr. Estes was a faithful member of Padgett's Creek Baptist Church where he had previously served as a Deacon and Trustee of the Church.  He had previously served as a fireman with Cross Keys Fire Department.  Mr. Estes loved to garden and he was known for growing some of the tallest tomato plants.

Surviving are a son Jimmy Estes and wife Stepheny of Cross Keys; two sisters, Ruby Whitmire of Union and Mary Pridemore of Buffalo; a brother, Joe Wylie "J.W." Estes and wife Rosa of Simpsonville; a brother-in-law, Charles Williams of Union; a sisters-in-law, Becky Estes of Union and Jean Estes of Macon, GA; two grandchildren, Blain Estes and Ansleigh Estes; a special nephew, Bud Whitmire; and a number of nieces and nephews, and in-laws.  He was predeceased by a son, Donald Estes, Jr.; five brothers, David Jonathan Estes, Clarence William Estes, George Monroe Estes, Charles Leroy Estes, and Jerry Bruce Estes; two sisters, Martha Mae Estes Williams and Laura Marian Estes.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, January 10, 2022 at Padgett's Creek Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Carrol Caldwell.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be John Williams, Robert Williams, Evan Ledford, William Mosely, Kent Littlejohn, and Stephen Stone.  The following are asked to serve the honorary escort, Bud Whitmire, Rocky Green, David Pridemore, George Pridemore and Charles Estes.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM prior to the services at the Church.

The family is at the home of his son, Jimmy and Stepheny Estes, 418 Prospect Corner Road, Union, SC 29379.
