Mr. Donald Ray “Donnie” Vaughan, age 76, more affectionately known as “Pop”, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, February 20, 2026 surrounded by his family. He is the beloved husband of fifty-four years to Vicki Varner Vaughan.
Donnie was born in Union, December 27, 1949, a son of the late Willie Hope “Shank” Vaughan and Evelyn Alexander Vaughan. He was a graduate of Union High School and Spartanburg Technical College. He was a long-time employee of Duke Power and then retired from Spartanburg Road and Bridges Camp 4. Donnie was a member of Oakbrook Community Church since 2004. He participated with the church on two mission trips to Africa. He was an avid Gamecock fan and enjoyed camping with his family and friends. One of his most favorite activities was cutting grass.
Surviving in addition to the love of his life, Vicki are a son, Scott Vaughan and wife Lorrie of Gaffney; a daughter, Amika Fowler and husband Kevin of Pacolet; his pride and joy and apple of his eye, a granddaughter reared in the home, Bryana Moses and husband Alex and great granddaughter, Penelope “Baby P” Moses of Greenville, and two grandsons, Dupree Baker and wife Noelle of Kannapolis, NC and Eric Peace of Gaffney. He is also survived by two sisters, Willie D. Holcombe and Barbara Jolly and husband Ben and a brother, Jerry Vaughan and wife Ann all of Union and a special sister in law, Teresa Vaughan Rogers of Buffalo. He was predeceased by two sisters, Connie and Linda and two brothers, Harold and Bud.
The family would like to say a special Thank You to the staff and nurses of Family Hospice especially Bruce, Summer, Tasha and Chaplain Paul for the care and love shown to Donnie and his family during his illness.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Oakbrook Community Church conducted by Rev. Randy Burgess and Rev. Shawn Ingle. Burial will be at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the church prior to the services.
Active pallbearers will be Tim Rogers, Dupree Baker, Eric Peace, Jeff Lindsey, Mike Roberson, and Joel Vaughan. Staff and nurses of Family Hospice along with co-workers from Duke Power and Spartanburg County and any camping friends are asked to sit in a group. The family also asks that casual attire be worn.

The family will be at the home, 229 Gilead St., Jonesville.
