Donald W. Cohen Union, SC Mr. Donald Walker Cohen, age 84, husband of June Riggs Cohen of 802 W. Main St., Union, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Wallace Thomson Hospital. Mr. Cohen was born in Union, March 31, 1930, a son of the late William "Will" Cohen and Katherine Kelley Cohen. He was a graduate of Union High School and received a Bachelors degree from North Greenville College, where he also played football. Mr. Cohen was retired from United Merchants and the State of South Carolina as a Food Service Supervisor. He was retired from the South Carolina National Guard. Mr. Cohen was a member of Duncan Acres United Methodist Church where he held several positions and was a member of the W.S. Whitener Sunday School Class. He had previously been a South Carolina Football Official and a member of the Jaycees. Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, Donald Edward Cohen and wife Kristal of Knoxville, TN; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Cohen of Chattanooga, TN; a sister-in-law, Peggy Lyons; five granddaughters, Jennifer Lancaster, Ana Shorey, Ansley Cohen, Caroline Cohen, and Kaylin Cohen; two great-granddaughters, Kennedy Shorey and Abby Lancaster; and a great-grandson, Michael Lancaster. He was predeceased by a son, Johnny Walker Cohen and twelve brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM at Duncan Acres United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Merritt Wentz. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Perry Haney, Michael Cohen, Franklin Pridemore, Edward Riggs, Travis Robbins, Benji Humphries, Bryan Shaver and Stephen Haney. The following are asked to assemble at the church at 1:45 PM Friday to form the honorary escort, members of the W.S. Whitener Sunday School Class, Chris Velie, Robert Stepp, Jimmy Cheek, Dillion Blackwell, Ronnie Lawson, Charlie and Shirley Vaughan, Cindy Hulon, Ace Comer, Bob Gist, Dr. Robert Yanetti, Dr. Henry Jordan, Dr. Robert Wentz and Randall Liner Visitation will be held 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Thursday evening at Duncan Acres United Methodist Church. The family is at the home, 802 W. Main Street, Union, SC 29379.
