Doris V. Eaves

Mrs. Doris Vaughan Eaves, age 88, widow of James Edward Eaves of 4734 Lockhart Hwy., Union, passed away, Friday, March 21, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Mrs. Eaves was born in Union, November 17, 1925, a daughter of the late James Lemuel Vaughan and Eddie Gregory Vaughan. She was a member of Philippi Baptist Church where she was a member of the Joy Club and the Bible Study Class. Mrs. Eaves loved to visit the shut-ins and work with the tape ministry of the church. She was an avid gardener, growing both flowers and vegetables for her family and friends. Mrs. Eaves was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are a daughter, Jean E. Crocker and husband Ronnie of Union; a grandson, Brian C. Crocker and wife Michelle of Columbia and a great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Crocker. Mrs. Eaves was predeceased by a son, James Lemuel Eaves, Jr., two sisters, Aileen V. Ivey and Frances V. Robinson and a brother, Bill Vaughan. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale and Rev. Tommy Mann. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Glenn Ivey, Steve Gibson, Fredrick Tucker, Ronnie Eaves, Stan Eaves, Tommy Eaves and Robert Palmer. Members of the Bible Study Class and the Joy Club of Philippi Baptist Church, along with Bobby Horne, Eddie Gibson and Joel Miller are asked to serve as the honorary escort. Visitation will at the church from 12:45 until 2:45 PM Sunday, prior to the services. Memorials may be made to the Philippi Baptist Church, Debt Retirement Fund, 327 Philippi Church Rd., Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Jean and Ronnie Crocker, 4744 Lockhart Hwy., Union, SC 29379.
