Dorothy B. Brawley

March 18, 2017 Mrs. Dorothy Bennett Brawley, age 82, of 765 Old Ferry Rd., Union, widow of Nelson "Lucky" Brawley, Sr., passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 at her home. Mrs. Brawley was born in Union, February 15, 1935, a daughter of the late R.J. Bennett and Elizabeth Hull Bennett. She was a graduate of Lockhart High School and earned her nursing degree from the University of South Carolina. She retired as a registered nurse and was a lifelong member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Merredith Brawley of the home; a son, Nelson Brawley, Jr. and wife Roxanne of Union; a brother, Charles Bennett and wife Mary Ann of Morganton, NC; a granddaughter, Nikki Carter of Union; a grandson, Patrick Lynch, Jr. of TX; and a great-grandson, Pratt Carter of Union. Mrs. Brawley was predeceased by two daughters, Michelle Elizabeth Brawley and Mary Barbara Ann Lynch and five brothers and two sisters. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 373 Wesley Chapel Rd. Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home of her son, Nelson and Roxanne Brawley, 538 Center Rd., Union.
