Dorothy "Dot" (Gambrell) Quinn

Dorothy Gambrell Quinn (Dot or "Nana"), 97, widow of Winston Andrew Quinn, passed away peacefully at her home on July 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Dot was born on July 30, 1927, to the late Clyde M. Gambrell and Inez Long Gambrell in Pelzer, SC. She shared her life with her husband, Winston, for 69 years.

Dot graduated from Pelzer High School, where she played basketball, and Draughon's Business School, Greenville, SC. She had previously lived in several upstate counties and was a stay-at-home Mom until the family moved from Marion, NC to Union in 1969. She then went to work at Belk's as a buyer and retired in 1988. As a member of Grace United Methodist Church, she was active in the Clyburn-Whitener Sunday School Class, the Johnny Sanders Circle, Young at Heart and the GMC Care Group.  She loved to travel with her family, taking many beach trips and cruises. She also visited Puerto Rico, Hawaii and at the age of 90 went to Israel.

She is survived by three daughters, Fran Love (Bob) of Union, Kathy Bailey (Michael) of Snellville, GA and Chris Smith (Barry) of Union. Grandchildren Andy Love (Cas), Jeff Love, Katie Crews (Jonathan), Jennifer Robbins (Bradley), Drew Smith (Sharmilla), Rhett Smith (Brittany). Great grandchildren Solomon Love, Gabriel Love, Kinsley Crews, Kaplan Crews, Gage Love, Ember Love, Wesley Robbins, Winston Robbins, Norah Smith, Lucas Smith, and Baby Brooklyn Smith, due in November. Along with her husband and parents, Dot was preceded in death by Baby Brother James, and sisters Martha King and Grace Poole.

Many thanks to Dot's loving care team from Spartanburg Regional Hospice including Donna, Sharon, Christina, Mechelle, Chaplain Reche' and many others. The family is grateful for the support of Pastor Lee Philips and Pastor Chad Ponder and special friends Sara Hopkins and Shot Hopkins. Much appreciation to friends and family members who came to visit and share precious memories, tears and laughter.

Friends and family will be received at Holcombe Funeral Home on Sunday, July 20th from 5 to 7 PM. Private burial will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Greenville, SC on Monday, July 21, followed by a Celebration of Life service at Grace Methodist Church, starting at 3PM on Monday. Pallbearers will be Andy Love, Jeff Love, Drew Smith, Rhett Smith, Bradley Robbins and Kaplan Crews.
