Mrs. Dorothy Berry Humphries, age 77, wife of Richard "Tommy" Humphries of 1420 Peach Orchard Rd., Union, entered her eternal home, Thursday, November 5, 2015. Mrs. Humphries was born in Newberry Co., October 29, 1938, a daughter of the late William Yates Berry and Verna Mae Heller Berry. She was a graduate of Union High School and worked alongside her husband in his business. Mrs. Humphries was a devote member of Augsburg Lutheran Church where she had served as treasurer and was a member of the Lutheran Women of the church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Mrs. Humphries was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Lisa Humphries Rogers of Union and Ann Humphries Clayton and husband John of Springfield, OH; a son, Stanley Humphries and wife Melissa of Silverstreet; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Humphries was predeceased by two sisters, Patricia Berry. Winburn and Violet Berry. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Augsburg Lutheran Church conducted by Pastor Al Potter and Chaplain Joey Bodie. Burial will be at Rosemont Cemetery in Newberry. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Lancaster, Kirk Winburn, Timmy McAbee, Eddie McAbee, Randy McAbee and Doug MacFarland. The following are asked to assemble at the church by 2:15 PM Sunday to form the honorary escort; Mrs. Humphries devoted caregivers, Katrina Ray, Cathy Ray and Connie Lipsey, staff and nurses of Blue Ridge Hospice, Brian Hardin, Michael Hardin, Jerry Mace, Kevin Mace, Billy McAbee and Alan Humphries. Visitation will be held 6:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral chapel. Memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 103 B Boyce St., Union, SC 29379 or to Augsburg Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 295, Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home, 1420 Peach Orchard Rd., Union.
