Douglas Austin

Mr. Douglas R. Austin, age 78 of 335 Meadow Woods Rd., Union, widower of Janice K. Austin, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the University of Alabama Birmingham Medical Center. Mr. Austin was born October 23, 1938 in Union, SC a son of the late Nim Austin and Arzie Peahuff Austin. He was a retired textile worker. Surviving are one daughter, Sarah Rhinehart and husband Mark of Union; two sons, Clyde Austin and wife Malisa and Randy Eugene Austin and wife Stephanie all of Alabama; one sister Gladys Henderson of Union; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a special family friend, James Spencer of Union; and many nieces and nephews, including Kendall Austin and wife Amy of Union. He was predeceased by four sisters, Beck, Sue, Minnie, and Evelyn and two brothers, Johnny and Fant. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Bob Catoe. Visitation will be held 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615. The family will be at the home, 335 Meadow Woods Road, Union SC 29379.
