Mr. Douglas Ned Farr, 90, of 100 Churchill St., Union, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Wallace Thomson Hospital. A lifelong resident of Union County, he is survived by his wife of 69 years, Laura Vanderford Farr. He is also survived by his son Donald Ned Farr and wife Pamela, granddaughter Lauren F. Daggett and husband Brett, grandson Matthew Guy Farr and fiancé Nicole Bonelli, and great-grandsons Aiden Brett Daggett and Wiley Ned Daggett, all of Lakeland, FL. Mr. Farr is also survived by his sister-in-law Dolly V. Mahaffey of Spartanburg and many nieces and nephews. Born July 8, 1924, Ned was the son of the late Marvin and Kate Brown Farr. He was predeceased by brothers, Ellis, Harry, and Ralph Farr, and sisters, Zora F. Wade, Lucille F. Boulware, Eloise F. Hook, and Kathryn F. Lewis. A lifelong member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Mr. Farr served in many capacities as long as his health permitted, including Chairman of the Administrative Council. He was the owner of Union Seed, Feed, & Supply, and was a former director for Union Federal Savings & Loan Association, Union Soil Conservation, and Farm Bureau. He attended Lockhart School, Union High School, and Cecil Business College. The family wishes to thank Blue Ridge Hospice, especially Lindsey Liner, Stacie Briggs, and Kellie Allen. Also special thanks to Trudy and Jim Smith and Dennis and Vicki Farr. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, August 25, 2014 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Donna Eidson and Rev. Alan Quarles. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Matthew Farr, Brett Daggett, Jim Smith, Dennis Farr, Richard Kloskey, Bowman Still, Marnie Hook, Edward Farr, Andy Farr and Terry Tracey. Members and past members of the Mary Ruth Vanderford and Laura Farr Sunday School Classes are asked to sit together. Visitation in the fellowship building will follow immediately after the committal service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 373 Wesley Chapel Rd., Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home, 100 Churchill St., Union, SC.
