September 21, 2018 Douglas Eugene Leonhardt, 64, husband of 40 years to Brenda Whitehead Leonhardt passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018. Doug was born in Union on May 14, 1954, son of the late Lillian Scott Bernard and Bobby Leonhardt. Doug was an active member of Lower Fairforest Baptist Church, where he served as Secretary of Sunday School. He was a graduate of John Randolph Tucker High School in Virginia and the University of South Carolina Upstate. Doug had worked in textiles, in production and sales at Milliken and Paragon Plastics. He had also worked at Union Chrysler Dodge. Most recently he had retired from Jimtex in Lincolnton, Georgia, where he served as a technical service manager. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Haley Berry (T.L.) and Megan Brown (Jamie); five grandchildren, Eliana, Viera, and Josiah Berry and Kolby and Brody Brown. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Edna Whitehead; an aunt, Carol Scott Henderson; uncles, Fred and Billy Scott; a niece, Stephanie Kierce and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Tonya Evans, a nephew, Chuck Rogers, his maternal grandparents, Will and Bessie Scott, and an uncle, Clyde Scott. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Lower Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Jim Cunningham, Rev. Carla Dillard and Rev. T.L. Berry. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 at the church prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Kip Brock, Kin Headley, Billy Wayne Scott, Mike Scott, Clyde Scott, Jr., and Lawson Headley. Honorary Pallbearers will be the men of Lower Fairforest Baptist Church, Talmadge Adams, Randy Penland, Larry Page and Steve Hughes. Memorials may be made to Lower Fairforest Baptist Church, 125 Lower Fairforest Church Rd., Union, SC 29379.
