EASTER ELAINE WALTON

Easter Elaine Harris Walton, 86, formerly of Columbia, SC, wife of the late William M. Walton, Sr., went home to be with Jesus, Saturday, May 23, 2020, just two days shy of her 63rd wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Walton was born in Union, SC, April 1, 1934, Easter Sunday, to the late Samuel and Stella Belle Palmer Harris. She was raised as a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Union, SC, where she attended with her family. A graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina's Nursing School, she worked for 35 years as a registered nurse in emergency medicine, labor and delivery, geriatric care and, after she retired, as an in-home nurse to family and friends throughout the southeast. She was a strong woman of faith; a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother; and was dedicated to the art of caring for others. With her husband, Bill, whom she met and married in Charleston, SC, Mrs. Walton was a lifelong fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Carolina Gamecocks.

Surviving are a son, Bill Walton, and his wife, Kay, of Spartanburg, SC; a son, Steve Walton, and his wife Tina, of North Augusta, SC; and a daughter, Julie Walton Shaver, of Metuchen, NJ. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Walton was also predeceased by a son, Joseph Michael Walton, in May of 1983. She is also survived by a sister, Ruth Corn and her husband James; six grandchildren: Hope, Adam, Michael, Bradley, Faith and Gregory; a great grandson, Adam Jr., and many wonderful cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Rd., Lexington, SC 29072. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Medical University of South Carolina's Foundation in support of the College of Nursing, 171 Bee St., MSC 450, Charleston, SC, 29425.
