Mr. Charles Edward "Eddie" Farmer, age 90, husband of Maxine Woods Farmer, of 415 Pineland Rd., Union, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, March 19, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Farmer was born February 24, 1935, in York, a son of the late Robert Farmer and Aileen Lowery Brown and her husband the late R.L. Brown. He was a graduate of Lockhart High School and retired from the textile industry, having worked at Cone Mill, Conso, and Lockhart Mill. Mr. Farmer retired from the South Carolina National Guard, Lockhart Unit. He was a lifelong member of Lockhart United Methodist Church, where he had served in various capacities, including, a Sunday School teacher, a Lay Servant, and held many offices in the church. Mr. Farmer was one of the founders of the Dixie Youth Baseball of Lockhart and served for over 50 years. He was also the first inductee into the Dixie Youth Hall of Fame in Myrtle Beach
Surviving in addition to his wife are, a daughter, Kathy Wilbanks and husband Ted of Union; a son, Glenn Sullivan and wife Monica of Spartanburg; two daughters-in-law, Sharon Sullivan and Lori Ledford; grandchildren: Christopher Wilbanks and wife Stacey, Niki Patterson, Jennifer Cooper and husband Rocky, Tonya Sullivan (Troy), Ashley Eller and husband Andy, Morgan Jackson, Melah Pate, Shannon Sullivan, Kyle Sullivan, Keegan Sullivan, Landon Sullivan, Ethan Sullivan, Erin Sullivan, and Logan Sullivan; two special nieces, Mechelle Ellis and husband Fran and Deneen Wade and husband Chris; a special nephew, Jamey Waters and wife Allison; his in-laws, Charles and Shirley Taber; two brothers-in-law, Roger Douglas and Steve Moss and wife Sandra; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Morris. Mr. Farmer was predeceased by first wife, Cornelia "Tiny" Cookson Farmer and second wife, Sandra Moss Sullivan Farmer. He was predeceased by two sons, Phillip Sullivan and Eric Sullivan; two sisters, Barbara Ann Knight and Mary Ruth Belue; and a sister-in-law, Belinda Douglas.
The family wishes to say a special Thank You to Agape Hospice, Spartanburg Regional Hospice and nurses, Donna Jolly, Cherri Freeman and Ann Martin for the care given to Mr. Farmer during his illness.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Duncan Acres United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Merritt Wentz and Rev. Brad Goodale. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Lockhart Cemetery.
The following are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort, Calvin Bolton, Amanda Weaver, J.D. Bright, Sammy and Lynn Webber, Darlene Walker, Marlene and Stan Eaves, Dickey Shugart, Jerry and Judy Jordan, Drexel Belue, Donna Jolly, Cherri Freeman, Ann Martin, Rev. and Mrs. Richard Lewis and John Bobo. Members of the Blue Sox Baseball Teams are asked to sit in a group.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the services at the church.
