Mr. Eddie Carl Kendrick, Sr., age 84, husband to Rachel Bishop Kendrick for 63 years, passed away April 5, 2020 at his home. Mr. Kendrick was born March 28, 1936 in Union, a son of the late Oscar Carl Kendrick and Ruby Lamb Kendrick. He was retired after over 50 years from Milliken & Company having worked at the Monarch and Cedar Hill Plants. Mr. Kendrick was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church where he was a member of the Tom Alexander Sunday School Class. He had previously been a member of Lower Fairforest Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and chaired the grounds committee for a number of years. Mr. Kendrick was a member and Past-President of the Union Shrine Club and had served on the Board of Directors. He was a lifetime member of Union Masonic Lodge No. 75 and he was an avid fisherman. Mr. Kendrick was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Eddie Carl Kendrick, Jr. of Union; two daughters, Carolyn Arthur and husband Ronnie of Union and Kathy Timberlake and husband Gilbert of Winston Salem, NC; three grandchildren, Travis Arthur and wife Lindsey of Lake Greenwood, Rachel Timberlake of Chapel Hill, and Joseph Timberlake of Greenville, NC; and a great-grandson, Henry Arthur. He was predeceased by an infant son, Stephen Michael Kendrick and a sister Connie DeBruhl. The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to Dr. David Keith, the staff and nurses of MSA Hospice and nurse Candice McSwain for their care of Mr. Kendrick during his illness. Due to the current health crisis a graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Forest Lawn Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Chris Gulledge.
