Mrs. Edith Jedell Inabinet Cheek, age 96, of 713 W. Main St., Union, widow of James W. Cheek, went to be with Jesus, our Lord and Savior, on Tuesday, September 16, 2014. Edith was the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Mary Emma Inabinet of Calhoun County and later of Buffalo, SC. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. A homemaker she enjoyed serving her church in her younger years, she also enjoyed sewing and cooking. Surviving are a son, James W. Cheek, II of the home and Mary Macila Cheek Brooks and husband Russell of Union; three grandchildren, Meredith Jedell Brooks of Spartanburg, Russell Todd Brooks of Union, and Kevin Edward Brooks of New York City; a special friend who was like a son, Tommy Bishop of Union; a brother, Ronald Inabinet of Buffalo; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Dreher, Archie "Bubba", J.W. Inabinet, and Woodrow Sikes; two sister-in-laws, Rubye Cheek and Lillie Mae Sparks. Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, September 19, 2014 conducted by the Rev. Robert Emory and Rev. Rich Brown. Active Pallbearers will be Benjamin Wages, Gerald Inabinet, James Inabinet, Jimmy Sykes, Ben Wages, III, and Eric Billings. Visitation will be held prior to the services from 1:00 - 1:45 PM at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. The family would like to recognize and express their appreciation to Mrs. Cheek's personal caregivers: Nathalie Moorman, Cindy Henderson, Cynthia Nash and Staff and Nurses of Medi Home Hospice, especially Gwen Dillard, Yaschica Mitchell, Jennifer Cooper and Chaplin Rich Brown. Memorials may be made to a church, organization, or charity of one's choice.
