September 21, 2015 Mrs. Edna Sumner Knox, age 88, of 2046 Jonesville Hwy, Union, widow of Claude Knox, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Mrs. Knox was born in Union, SC July 15, 1927, a daughter of the late Herbert Sumner and Eva Spelts Sumner. She was retired from Union Mill and was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church. Mrs. Knox was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are a son, Larry G. Knox and wife Mary of Lexington; a number of nieces and nephews and is also survived by a very special extended family: Shaun Wolfe, Rachel Wolfe, Tyler Wolfe and Caroline Wolfe all of Chapin. Mrs. Knox was predeceased by a son, Randy Knox. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Mark Truitt. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Preston Thomas, Tony Gault, Les Gibson, Lloyd Burgess, Roger Sumner and Larry Caldwell. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday evening at the SR Holcombe Funeral Home. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Knox's loving niece, Dianne Burgess for her care during her illness.
