Edna West Whitehead

Mrs. Edna West Whitehead, age 90, of Bishop Rd., Union, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024 at her home.

Mrs. Whitehead was born in Union, May 29, 1933 a daughter of the late Broadus and Altonia Sherbert West. She is the widow of Edwin "Ed" Whitehead and was a homemaker. Mrs. Whitehead was a member of Lower Fairforest Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Pastor Search Committee, and held various other roles throughout the years.

Surviving are her daughters, Brenda Leonhardt, Debbie Whitehead, Karen Brock and husband Anthony, Marsha Barnette and husband Paul, and Beth Walker and husband Mark. She was a special "Nanny" to six grandchildren: Haley Berry and husband T.L., Kim Newman and husband Mark, Kip Brock, Kacie Coker and husband Lee, Ginny Beth Brock and Megan Brown and husband Jamie, and eleven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Doug Leonhardt.

A celebration of life service will be held at the graveside, 2:00 PM Saturday March 30, 2024 at Lower Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Jim Cunningham and Rev. T.L. Berry. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the services.

Active pallbearers will be Kip Brock, Caleb Osborne, Mark Newman, Lee Coker, Jamie Brown and T.L. Berry.

The family would like to thank Spartanburg Regional Hospice and her caregivers for their special care and compassion given to Mrs. Whitehead.
