Mrs. Edythe Arnold Fowler Sanlin, age 95, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at Woodruff Manor. She was was first married to the late John McSwain Fowler with whom she had two children. After his death in 1953, she remained single until she was remarried to J.B. Sanlin in 1974 and again widowed in 1983. Mrs. Sanlin was born in Union, SC, a daughter of the late Earl Whiting and Rose Alexander Whiting. She was self-employed as a cosmetologist for fifty-four years. Upon retiring, she worked for the Union County Senior Citizen Center and also Union County Health Department. She was very gifted and well known for creating anything that could be sewed, knitted, crocheted, or quilted. Mrs. Sanlin was a lifelong resident of Union. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Fowler Hodge of Union; four grandchildren: Anthony "Tony" Hodge and wife Beverly of Gaffney and Brandi Hodge Monroe and husband Chad of Union; six great-grandchildren: Bethany Hodge, Drew Harvey, Alex Harvey, Casey Cash, Alayna Monroe and Claire Monroe; a special niece, Dianne Taus; a nephew, David Fowler and a number of other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sanlin was predeceased by a son, Gerald Fowler; an infant daughter, Judith Ann Fowler; a sister, Argel Sumner, a great grandson, Matthew Cash, and a son-in-law, Marshall Hodge. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Reverend Dr. Jim McClure. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mrs. Sanlin's great grandsons. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday evening at the SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to Mon Aetna Baptist Church, 1431 Lockhart Hwy, Union, SC 29379 or to Alzheimer's Association S.C. Chapter, 4124 Clemson Blvd, Suite L, Anderson,, SC 29621. The family is at the home of her daughter, Linda F. Hodge, 352 Fairwood Blvd, Union, SC 29379.
