Mrs. Eleanor Jean Carter, age 74, wife of Robert W. Carter of 2649 Jonesville-Lockhart Hwy., Union, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Carter was born in Union, April 11, 1945, a daughter of the late Evelyn Wilson Brank. Mrs. Carter was raised by her mother in the home of her late maternal grandparents Thomas Adam Wilson and Mamie Wilson. She was a 1963 graduate of Lockhart High School and had worked several places in Union including, Quincy's Steak House, Andy's of Buffalo and Smith's Jewelers. Mrs. Carter was a member of Lockhart First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult II Sunday School class. She had taught Mission Friends, served on the Bereavement Committee and volunteer with Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Carter was also an avid Elvis Presley fan. Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Robin C. Black and husband Kevin of Fredericksburg, VA, and Heather C. Colson and husband Jason of Union; a son, Todd Carter of Union; a step-brother, David Fletcher of Dayton, OH; four grandchildren, Robert J. Black and wife Katie, Jessica Black and fiancée Roman, Jacob Colson and Ashley Colson and two great-grandchildren, Daniel Herrera and Emily Black. Mrs. Carter was predeceased by two step-brothers, Jimmy Fletcher and Danny Fletcher. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Lockhart First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Delos Blanton. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jason Childers, Scott Vlock, Dwayne Grant, Eddie Burnett, Jason Plemmons and Mike Allen. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Wednesday at the church prior to the services. Memorials may be made to the Lockhart First Baptist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 190, Lockhart, SC 29364. The family will be at their respective homes.
