Mrs. Elizabeth Sweet Rector, age 88, 120 Hill Top View, Union, widow of Thomas E. Rector, Jr., passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2014 at her home after a period of declining health. Mrs. Rector was born November 25, 1925 in Spittown, NY, a daughter of the late Herman and Maude Storm Sweet. She was retired from Milliken Co., Monarch Plant and was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Johnson of Union and Donna Hedden and husband Wesley of the home; a son, Tommy E. Rector, III and wife Debbie of Union; a sister, Mildred Spoor of New York; grandchildren, Suzy Garner and husband Mike of Jonesville, Andrea Morris of Jacksonville, FL, Christy Lyles and husband Travis of Union, Dennis Reynolds and wife Dana of Jonesville, Erica Smith of Union, Kimberly Johnson of Union, Melissa Barnett and husband Micah of Inman , Lisa Stansell and husband Taylor of Greer; 12 great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Cherrie Dvorak of Boiling Springs. Mrs. Rector was predeceased by a son, Timothy Gault Rector, two brothers, Billy Sweet and Sonny Sweet, and a sister, Mary Sowder. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Brother Arthur Stevens and Brother Robert Tucker. Burial will be at Rosemont Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be the men of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Visitation will be held 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Barbara Johnson, 153 Ellis St., Union.
