Elizabeth Ray Ruff

Mrs. Elizabeth Ray Ruff of 133 Clairmont Rd., Union, passed away February 14, 2016, following a long illness. She was predeceased in 2003 by her husband of over 50 years, George S. Ruff, Jr.; a brother Charles L. Ray, and a sister, Margaret K. Ray. Mrs. Ruff was born December 13, 1924, a native of Union, she was also predeceased by her parents, Charles L. Ray Sr. and Lena Effie Gallman. A lifelong resident of Union, Elizabeth for many years handled the bookkeeping at the service station run by her husband on Gadberry Street. A member of Grace United Methodist Church, she also enjoyed her employment with Grace United Methodist Child Enrichment Program preparing lunches for the students. For several years she also served Fairforest Wood Products as their secretary and book keeper. Elizabeth is survived by her two children, Margaret Catherine (Margie) Ruff of Union and George R. Ruff of Alexandria, VA, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. David Bauknight. The family will receive friends at the home, 133 Clairmont Rd., Union. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 201 S. Church St., Union, SC 29379.
