October 14, 2018 Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Womack Davis, age 81, wife of Paul L Davis Sr. of Union, SC passed away Saturday, October 13th, at Spartanburg Region Hospital, after battling incurable neurological diseases for over two years. Mrs. Davis was born in Washington, D.C. on August 25, 1937, daughter of the late Lynn and Juanita Womack. She is survived by her sister Christine Morris who resides in San Jose, CA. Mrs. Davis graduated from West Virginia University in 1959 with a degree in Home Economics, where she met and married her husband, Paul, in August of 1958. For over twenty years, Mrs. Davis assumed the role of a career Army Wife. While raising their family, she quarterbacked 16 moves in Colorado, New Mexico, Missouri, Florida, Panama Canal Zone, Virginia, Hawaii, Georgia with her last relocation to Union, SC. While in Georgia and the Panama Canal Zone, she was as an elementary school science teacher, a profession which she continued at Union Christian Day School and Union Christian Academy for over 17 years. Her passion as a science teacher was displayed in her classroom as a miniature version of the Museum of Natural History, attracting students from other classes. Elizabeth was devoted to Union First Baptist Church and in the community. She was active in the choir, hand bells, Adult Seniors, and WMU. She taught Sunday school for 38 years until health required her to relinquish her teaching role. She was involved in the communities where she loved being a part of Union American Legion Post Auxiliary 22, Daughters of the American Revolution, the American Red Cross as the Volunteer Leader and Boy Scouts (Ft. Benning, (GA), and Pre-School Director (HI). A love for crafts began early on in marriage. She enjoyed creating things not only to wear but also to display. Over the years this love evolved into creating elaborate table displays for use in her church that span all seasons and months of a year. She was a caring grandmother to twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She remembered every family member's birthday and anniversary with a card and check, to include spouses. She was a "Mother Hen" to every family member. Survivors span the globe, from as far away as Dubai, Guam, Texas to South Carolina. They include children and spouses: Leanne and Benny Taylor, Paul and Margo Davis, Ed and Carol Davis, Stephanie and Scott Erwin. Grandchildren and spouses: Michael and Stephanie Heckman, Leilani Heckman, Maggie Davis, Rebecca Davis, Paul E Davis, Joshua and Elizabeth Davis, Jennifer and Rob Smith, Jaclyn Davis, Joanna Davis, Gabriella and Taylor Faught, Abigail Erwin, and finally Noah Erwin. Great-grandchildren include Meghan Schneider, McKenzie Schneider, Evan Heckman, Shaun Heckman, Justin Hendrix, Jonathen Hendrix, Bentley Faught, and Jensen Faught. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, October 21, 2018 at First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robbie Stolger. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren: Michael Heckman, Leilani Heckman, Maggie Davis, Rebecca Davis, Paul E Davis, Joshua Davis, Jennifer Smith, Jaclyn Davis, Joanna Davis, Gabriella Faught, and Abigail Erwin. Noah Erwin is presently serving his country at Marine Boot Camp. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the First Baptist WMU, Choir, Elizabeth's Sunday School Class and Hand Bells. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 PM Sunday at the church prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church General Fund, 405 E. Main St., Union, SC 29379 in honor of Elizabeth.
