Mr. Ellis E. Langley, age 87 passed away early Friday morning at Heartland of Union. He and his wife Peggy Harmon Langley had been married for 67 years. Mr. Langley was born in Cross Keys on March 14, 1930 a son of the late Ernest E. Langley and Ruth Bailey Langley. He was a 1947 graduate of Union High School. Mr. Langley was a retired Union Businessman having owned and operated Union Dry Cleaning and Steam Laundry Company for 47 years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Clyburn Whitener Sunday School and was an Usher. Mr. Langley was a member of the Union Elks Lodge where he was former treasurer. He was also a former member of the Union County Historical Society, Union Livestock Association, and former President of Union County Farm Bureau. Mr. Langley was retired from the South Carolina National Guard Union Unit. Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Donna Anthony and husband Tommy of Union; two sons, Dennis Langley and wife Cindy of Union and David Langley and wife Mary Beth of Greer; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Nelson and husband Andy, Tyler Anthony and wife Amanda, Dr. Katie Cash and husband Garrett, Michael Langley and wife Ashley, Christopher Langley, Matthew Langley, and Sydney Langley; five great-grandchildren, Cameron and Caden Nelson, Austin and Ava Anthony, and AnnaBelle Langley; and two sisters Ann L. Rollins of Abbottstown, PA and Erma Lee Hunt and husband Dan of Winston Salem, NC. He was predeceased by one sister Mary Bailey Arthur and her husband John Arthur. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Grace United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Jim Ivey and Rev. Richard Lewis. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Mr. Langley's grandsons and great-grandsons. The Clyburn Whitener Sunday School Class of Grace United Methodist Church and the Staff of Heartland Healthcare are asked to sit in a group Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the S.R.
