Elma Jean Burgess

August 28, 2016 Mrs. Elma Jean Bledsoe Burgess, age 67, wife of Larry W. Burgess, Sr., of 504 Peach Orchard Rd., Union, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Physical Rehab Wellness Center of Spartanburg. Mrs. Burgess was born in Blackwater, VA February 12, 1949, a daughter of the late Davie Gaston Bledsoe and Virgie Rhoton Bledsoe. She was retired from Carlisle Finishing following thirty-nine years of service. Mrs. Burgess was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Jennifer Renee Burgess Hines and husband Chris of Boiling Springs; two step-sons: Larry Burgess, Jr and wife Michelle and Raymond Burgess and wife Beverly all of Union; four sisters: Della Robinette of Union, Ruby Edmonds and husband David of Spartanburg, Barbara Knox and husband Collie of Cowpens and Kathy English and husband Bobby of Union; three brothers: Davie Bledsoe and wife Thelma of Buffalo, Jerry Bledsoe and wife Gail of Greensboro, NC and Clifford Bledsoe and wife Kathy of Gaffney; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Burgess was predeceased by a sister, Allie Collins and a brother, Glenn Bledsoe. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, August 29, 2016 at New Hope Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Johnny Burgess. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Heath, Raymond, Dusty, Neal, Jackie and Joe Visitation will be held 1:00-2:00 PM Monday in the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 308 Linersville Rd., Buffalo, SC 29321. The family is at the home, 504 Peach Orchard Rd., Union.
