Emily G. Martin

November 24, 2018 Mrs. Emily Gore Martin, age 87, formerly of Jonesville, widow of James Wilford Martin, Jr., passed away Friday, November 23, 2018 at Dillon Pointe of Spartanburg. Mrs. Martin was born in Spartanburg, July 25, 1931, a daughter of the late James D. and Pauline Willis Gore. She was a graduate of Jonesville High School and a member of Gilead Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Dean Martin and wife Regina Robinson Martin of Spartanburg; two grandsons, Jonathan Seth Martin and James William Martin; two great-grandsons, Jonathan Seth Martin, Jr. and Aaron Nicholas Martin; a sister, Floree Davis; a brother, Harley Gore and a large number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Martin was predeceased by a son, Ricky Martin, a granddaughter, Erin Martin, three sisters, Edith G. Hollifield, Annie Gueline Gore and Bertha G. Parker and two brothers, Lawrence Gore and Haskell Gore. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Steven Owensby. The family will receive friends following the services. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Missions Committee of the Fellowship Sunday School Class at Morningside Baptist Church, 897 S. Pine St., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
