December 17, 2016 Mrs. Emma Jean West Babb, age 83, of 312 Putman, Buffalo, widow of James H. Babb went to be with the Lord Friday, December 16, 2016 at her home. Mrs. Babb was born in Union, SC, June 28, 1933 a daughter of the late James Hayward West and Pallie Bledsoe West. She was a member of Putman Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Debra Babb and fiancé Terry Sprouse of the home, a son, Donald Babb and wife Virginia of the Putman community; a sister, Ollie Mae Brock of the Putman community; two granddaughters, Donielle Gresham and husband Tyler of Putman; and Michelle Johnson of Buffalo; four great-grandchildren, Brandon Colt Gresham and Bristol Marie Gresham both of Putman and Emily Erwin and Christopher Todd both of Buffalo. Mrs. Babb was predeceased by a son, Carl Edward Babb. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, December 19, 2016 at the S. R. Holcombe Chapel conducted by the Rev. Chad Lawson and a guest speaker. Burial will follow at Putman Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brad Lawson, Brian Lawson, Neil Gregory, Jason Ivey, Billy Burgess and Tyler Gresham. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Ivey, Terry Burgess, Jerry Burgess, Toney Peay and Harold Gregory. The family has asked that the Blue Ridge Hospice sit in a group. The family will receive friends from 1:00 unit 1:45 prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Blue Ridge Hospice for all their compassion. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
